Hi there! Welcome to the Durham Legion Branch 308 Military History & Peacekeeping Museum website. That is a mouthful, so feel free to call us by other sensible names such as ‘the Durham Legion Museum,’ ‘The Branch 308 Museum,’ or anything else that gets the general meaning across!
The name represents everything that our little museum stands for. We are here to share the story of our community’s military history, Canada’s military history, and to celebrate and recognize the importance of Canada’s role as a peacekeeping nation.
Military history has never been in such a critical place as it is at this moment. Misinformation spread through social media by artificial intelligence-generated content has caused a crisis of understanding for Canadians about our military history. The goal of the Branch 308 museum, and hopefully every museum, is to provide a foundation of learning and present the factual information that is so crucial to counter the nonsense that is flooding our screens.
Everything in the museum gallery has been loaned or donated by the community in the spirit of remembrance. We have recently hired a museum services business to completely renovate the space, leaving us with a bright, spacious, and well-lit gallery. Look at our museum as a hub of information, and please use our website as a resource.
